StrategyEye, a next generation intelligence platform for major corporate and financial services client teams, has been named a winner in the prestigious Red Herring 100 Europe 2008 award.
The award is given annually to the top 100 private technology firms in Europe, the Middle East and Africa by the leading innovation magazine.
The StrategyEye platform combines human analysis and automated search to provide highly-filtered intelligence from thousands of specialized sources, including selected opinion-forming bloggers.
This approach enables StrategyEye to break venture capital, merger and acquisition and partnership deal flow news where its rivals focus on just one of those areas. It does so often before conventional wire services.
The service also makes it possible to cross-link related items to provide the context behind each deal.
StrategyEye uses a unique mapping technology to give subscribers a "battlefield" view of developments in an expanding number of business sectors, currently technology, telecoms, digital media and clean tech.
"This year's impressive list of submissions from companies demonstrates Europe's growing role as a major center of innovation in the global technology sector," said Red Herring Editor-in-Chief Joel Dreyfuss. "The exceptional accomplishments of European technology startups and entrepreneurs are a testament to the rapid advancements being made in building the European innovation ecosystem."
Companies like Google, eBay, and Skype were spotted in their early days by Red Herring editors, and touted as leaders that would change the way we live and work. Red Herring's editorial staff selected winners for the award after rigorously evaluating several hundred private companies through analysis of financial data and subjective criteria. These included quality of management, execution of strategy, and dedication to research and development.
StrategyEye is based in London and was founded by Nick Gregg, former head of European tech research at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (now part of Credit Suisse).
The company's flagship product is the StrategyEye real-time intelligence platform ( www.strategyeye.com ), designed to track high growth, complex, fast changing sectors. StrategyEye Digital Media was launched in April 2006, followed by StrategyEye Cleantech in February 2008.
Launched in April 2006, StrategyEye has built up an impressive client list that includes Accenture, Arqiva, Microsoft, Google, BBC, BSkyB, Disney, AOL, Channel4, Virgin Media, MTV, ITV, Verisign, Avid Technology, Benchmark Capital, Atlas Venture, Close Brothers, Fidelity Ventures, Accel and 3i.
